Carers
John Curtin Aged Care employs 35 care staff to provide day to day support to residents in the areas of physical and health support based on assessed and planned care needs. We aim to provide wholistic care which addresses the resident’s emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing as well. Carer qualifications include Certificate 3 and 4 in Aged Care and Registered Nursing Division 2.
Activities
A small team plans and manages the leisure and lifestyle program at John Curtin. Time is spent with each new resident identifying their likes and dislikes in regards to activities. A progam is then developed including group and individual activities. A dual program is coordinated between the standard and dementia wings of the hostel. And of course we have bingo, sing-a-longs, concerts and outings. The facility has a wheelchair accessible van to enable all residents to participate in outings.
Therapy

John Curtin acknowledges the benefits of physical therapies to support medical care of long term health problems. Therapies are provided, generally in a one to one situation and include reminiscence, massage, aromatherapy, spa therapy, and exercise groups.
Maintenance & Cleaning
John Curtin is committed to the provision of a supportive environment. This means the must be clean and welcoming, at the same time as remaining homelike and providing a safe workplace. We have a team of willing environmental staff who keep the facility looking its best. We have our own maintenance team and a gardener to keep the place both looking and working well.
Food and Meals
John Curtin has a contract with Sodexo to provide a variety of home cooked meals and snacks for residents. Kitchen staff are skilled in the provision of meals which cater to the individual needs of the aged residents living at the facility. Menus rotate on a four weekly basis and resident input into menu selection is always encouraged.
Allied Health & Other Services
John Curtin has access to a wide variety of allied health personnel including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, podiatry, counselling, and dental services to name a few.
